The way things are going it may seem we could be in for a little wait. So to have something to think on let's take a look at my opinions and everyone else can let me know your opinion also.
I keep hearing we are in no rush since we are going in to a dead period in the recruiting process so we really don't have to be in a hurry. The recruits that we are currently in contact with and already have verbals from, keep in mind they are only verbals and our last verbal ie: rodriguez didn't quiet make it. These recruits are anxiously waiting as most of us are to see who the next head guy is gonna be. We should get who we want ASAP, because the longer we wait the worse I think it will get. Do you think the other universities are using this to their advantage? I can see it now - Why would you want to go somewhere that doesn't know who their next coach is???? I would be willing to bet every recruit has heard this line. I know we are Alabama and some recruits will come because of that but we do not need to go backwards again. Shula did a good job righting the ship and recruiting good players now we need someone to put it all together. We need to get someone in there quick before we step back another 2-3 years because with the player we now have I believe we are headed in the direction all Bama fans want. Who is it gonna be????? I don't know but the names are out there and there are new names each day. I know they are not going to fire Mal Moore, right now, but we have to stand behind him because he is going to make this decision so let's give him our support because all we want is Bama back on top where we belong.
Who's it gonna be?? Saban - Stoops - Johnson - Grobe - Stallings - Leach - Kragthorpe - the list is endless what do you think?

Bama and others are still lookin' for the coach
December 14, 2006
ALABAMA: Again, I'm told by many not to close the door on Miami Dolphins coach Nick Saban, no matter what you hear out of his mouth. Another name that has been heating up is Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden. No doubt, hiring either would be a huge coup for the Tide, as the school seems adamant about tabbing a big-name coach.
After those two, the list of names I hear becomes lukewarm.

guess since this search is taking so long, we will only get a bunch of 2 star scrub oak recruits. We will get dominated in every league game next year.

Is there some late breaking news on the search?
If not, then we know that our answer will not come until after January 1. The quiet period will end then and we can talk to Mora, Gruden, or Saban. Possibly even a few coaches that are headed to rather large bowl games.
The next few weeks should prove to be rather uninteresting and if so that will be a good thing for all Alabama fans.
The silence will allow dissenters and opponents to continue to attack but our retribution can be swift and complete IF we make to correct hire.
Then fear will spread throughout the SEC like a cold spear through the chest.

PETRINO says please hire me and I will bring in a Heisman trophy and the SEC Championship within three seasons.
Forget Jim Grope
Jim Haslett
Mike Sherman
Jack Del Rio
Jim Leavitt
Sylvester Croom
Mike Martz
Chan Gailey
...and worst of all Tom Wopat

Is there any speculation as of today about who may be interviewed in January? There is said to be no upcoming action until January 2-5.
It is certainly good that this blog site has avoided killing itself by going in the direction of memphistider and the one that runs the hirebobstoops silliness. Too much speculation and rumor mongering.
The top candidates as of this moment appear to be: Jon Gruden, Nick Saban, Jim Mora Jr., Jimbo Fisher, Bob Petrino, Bo Pellini, and Paul Johnson.
A list to be avoided are:
Art Briles
Jim Gush
Chan Gailey
Jim Haslett
Jim Leavitt
Rush Probst
Jim Grove
Jeff Tedford
And Many Others
RTR!!
1. Bob Petrino–(40-9) bold and aggressive, no nonsense attitude is just what Bama needs, offensive guru who could immediately goad the Auburn powers and Tuberville, has a small one million dollar buyout clause. Major drawbacks: needs to get a defensive coordinator with an ability to stop the opponents pass, his family loves the Louisville area and he turned down the Raiders three times on a 20 million dollar offer.
2. Bob Stoops–(85-18) although he has recently denied interest, a friend of his stated that if the correct offer is made he “would take a long hard look at the deal and consider his options.” He is the best Big 12 coach since Osborne and houndstooth visors would sell rapidly, he runs a generally clean program, he will not put up with a losing attitude which has infested the Bama program (i.e., acceptance of low expectations). Drawbacks--has invested a lot of time and energy at OU and may not be ready to leave with a well-regarded recruiting class coming in this year, would probably only stay 3-6 seasons b/c he will not hang around like a Paterno or Bowden, may leap to the NFL.
3. Nick L. Saban–(91-42-1) proven collegiate head coach and NFL assistant, tremendous defensive mind that succeeded greatly at LSU. NFL career is on the brink of collapse and will need somewhere to go either at the end of this season or next.
4. Bill Parcells–perfect attitude to clean up the program from the lack of discipline of the Shula Error. Drawbacks--age, already has one of the top NFL jobs, yet four years ago he did call AD Moore about the job and Moore never bothered to return the call (this was reported in the Birmingham News by Kevin Scarbinsky and others).
5. Chris Peterson, Boise State–(12-0)probably the real genius behind Dan Hawkins great record at Boise and is an offensive whiz averaging around 45 points per game over the last six seasons, young up and coming coach much like Urban Meyer at Bowling Green and Utah. Drawbacks--must get a better defensive coordinator who teaches sound coverage skills.
6. Gary Patterson–(53-20) excellent coach and defensive minded. Drawbacks--Tide has already had one bad experience with a coach from TCU.
7. Paul Johnson, Navy–(99-34) more adaptable in his offense than many people think, has a 99-34 overall record so a lot of experience winning and not much in the losing category is always good. Drawbacks–no experience at a major program, may be involved in a major steroid scandal at Navy.
8. Gene Stallings–(70-16-1) could mentor a great offensive assistant to take over the head job after two or three seasons. The best replacement would be Jimbo Fisher. Drawbacks–obviously his age.
9. Frank Beamer–(almost 200 career victories when one counts his HC time at Murray State) has previously expressed interest in Tide job, great special teams and defense that would be very appreciated. Drawbacks--absolutely must bring Bud Foster (DC) with him and not leave him behind to take over the Va. Tech HC job or may end up like Dan Hawkins (rudderless at Colorado minus OC Chris Peterson), also runs a program that on the field edges towards dirty play and his players often demonstrate a lack of class.
10. Jimmy Johnson–(81-34-3 college; 89-68 w/Playoffs) complete pipedream but a great leader and unquestioned general over players, he may like to erase the bad taste left in his mouth after his Miami Dolphins experience. Drawbacks–very happily retired.
11. Larry Kehres–(222 career wins, 20 losses, and 3 ties). Just recently won his ninth Division III national championship in the last fifteen seasons and finished 15-0 (winning a second consecutive national title). Drawbacks–may not be prepared for Bama limelight.
12t. Bo Pelini or Jimbo Fisher–combine either with a great DC or OC and they could roll big at Alabama.
DO NOT EVEN BOTHER:
1. Jim Grobe–people talk about him like he has answers, Wake Forest has only won this year because Miami and FSU and others are in the dumps, so what if he finishes 11-2 or 12-2 this year b/c Shula got lucky and finished 10-2 last year in a much tougher conference. Overall record is: 69-67-1 and at Wake he is 36-34, that is simply far too many losses. He has also had SEVEN losing/non-winning seasons out of twelve, if we wanted that why not keep Shula? This guy is a bum and may be fine for WF or other colleges but do not bring him to Bama.
2.Chan Gailey–redneck who cannot beat his rival Georgia; Bama needs a coach who can beat rivals LSU, Auburn, and Tennessee at least every once in a while. Tech has lost SIX in row to Georgia, again if we wanted that why not just keep Shula. He may be fine for Tech or some other college but do not bring him, like Curry (0-for Auburn lifetime) to Alabama.
3. Steve Kragthorpe–a hot name the past two seasons, but realistically he is only 29 Wins to 21 Losses, Shula was 26-23 and that is unsatisfactory. Kraggy has no big time experience and went 4-8 in 2004, not good enough. He may be fine for Tulsa or some other small college but do not bring him to Alabama.
4. David Cutcliffe–poor recruiter, does not excite the fan base or anyone else for that matter. Cannot get exited himself because he may have a heart attack at any minute. A graduate of Alabama but like Weis did not play there and he has too many ties to Fulmer. His Ole Miss teams also did not have a defense that would be needed to compete consistently. Again, fine for UT or as a HC somewhere else.
5. Art Briles–recently mentioned by some as a candidate but his overall record is 26-23 or the same record that Shula was just fired for having. He also has no big time background experience seeing as he was at Stephenville High School in Texas prior to Houston in Conference USA.
6. Jim Gush–mentioned lately as a candidate, has no proven ability at a major level of college or professional football.
7. Jeff Tedford–already demonstrated that he was absolutely clueless when it came to playing in the SEC when Tennessee owned his talented Cal team 35-18 in Knoxville. His team was incapable of scoring until UT put in second and third string defensive players. Bama needs someone that can beat Auburn and Tennessee and/or has a proven ability to defeat major rivals and Tedford has not done that. Tedford simply cannot beat major rivals in the Pac 10.
8. Anyone named MIKE–at all costs avoid Mikes. Mike DumBose--scandalous, sexual controversies and infractions, Mike Price--scandalous, sexual controversies, Mike Sherman–has the personality of a baked clam and that reminds many of Mike Shula.
What about Jimbo Fisher? He has been around some good coaches and has been on championship staffs.I say give him a shot, but what do I know.I just want Bama to win again.-codus

14. Chuck Martin–(38-3) Recently won second consecutive Division II National Championship with Grand Valley State. He has won 28 consecutive games and has the winningest quarterback in college football history. Drawbacks–has no experience in major college football and is unprepared for the Alabama fish bowl.

He led a Raiders team that if not for the problem with the NFL tuck rule, would have went to the Super Bowl before he did that with the Bucs. Drawbacks–former Tennessee assistant coach and married to a former UT cheerleader and apparently owns hundreds of acres of land in Sevierville, TN. Also has been rumored to covet the Notre Dame job in college and possibly Tennessee.

Of course, this is in jest as I realize that Mike Stoops is decent and may be really good at a place like Alabama, Mike Shanahan, and Mike Holmgren would also be great. Not Mike Ditka as he slandered Alabama recently on the radio referring to them as possibly the third best team in their own state.

G14: Bills 21, Dolphins 0
Ugly. Awful. In a Dolphins season with too many lows -- one whose 6-8 record officially means a fifth straight year out of the playoffs -- today's 21-0 loss at Buffalo may have been a new low-point. The overall showing was abysmal. Joey Harrington's performance was even worse.
Two games left now, with nothing to play for except 2007. Why not give Cleo Lemon the next two starts and see if he's any good?
Inviting comments on today's loss, on the playoff elimination and season at large, on the Lemon/Harrington matter and anything else on your Dolfan mind.

Yeah I shamelessly picked Bills despite annihilation of NE last week. Buffalo tough place for Miami to have success. Buffalo 24-14. Here's hoping to my being wrong though.

This team is so poorly coached, it's beyond belief. First possession, if you KNOW you're going to go for it on fourth down, WHY PASS ON THIRD AND FOUR? On the second possession, as soon as Barnes shifted, everyone in the damn stadium knew that Morris would be following Barnes. Why not just tell Buffalo what we're going to run beforehand? Wait - WE ARE!!!! Amazing playcalling. Forrest Gump wouldn't be fooled by this display. Oh, and Zach Thomas? Whistle means PLAY IS OVER, DUMMY!!! So old he's now gone deaf. ARGH!
Posted by: Aloysious McGillicudy | December 17, 2006 at 01:27 PM
Now they're afraid to make a tackle. McGahee turns a seven-yard loss into a return to the line of scrimmage. Traylor is too afraid to sack Losman; thirty-yard completion. This team SUCKS.
Posted by: Aloysious McGillicudy | December 17, 2006 at 01:44 PM
Well looks like Mularkey's addiction for the end around just couldn't be controlled. I agree with the first posession...if you know it's fourth down territory why pass it on 3rd and 4??? Just poor coaching.
Posted by: blue | December 17, 2006 at 01:54 PM
Yeah, so, Harrington can't complete a pass WITH the wind, and Losman completes two bombs INTO the wind. Mm-hmm. Great performance. Worst team in the league.
Posted by: Aloysious McGillicudy | December 17, 2006 at 02:03 PM
Make that three bombs and a touchdown. Nice job again by the Dolphins secondary. Based on their coverage skills, they double in the off-season as the famed Marlins' tarp crew. What is Saban's alleged one area of expertise again? Oh, right - DEFENSIVE BACKFIELD! DEE-DEE-DEE, as Carlos Mencia, would say. Brain-dead jackass, he can't get out of here and go to Tuscaloosa soon enough for me. So, this coaching staff has no confidence in Harrington (deservedly so) and no confidence ni Mare (deservedly so), SO WHY ARE THEY ON THE TEAM?? DUH!!! DUHH!!!! DUHHHHHHHH!!!!
Posted by: Aloysious McGillicudy | December 17, 2006 at 02:06 PM
I know we're going to hear on how we are down on this coaching staff, but geez can anyone explain this first half to me? Is there any running play in Mularkey's play book, outside of end arounds that allows for a Fin running back to go wide with a couple of guards in front of them? Does everything have to be inside? As far as the defensive back field...their play is totally unsat. Losman beat them last time, so I guess after two months they haven't figured the great Losman out??
Posted by: blue | December 17, 2006 at 02:21 PM
So any predictions out there? Does Mularkey come out passing hoping to get more than 19 yards this time or does he continue to pound Fin backs into the line of scrimage?
Posted by: blue | December 17, 2006 at 02:30 PM
My prediction? Pain. For myself and Dolfans everywhere. This is sickening. Apart from Jason Taylor, there's nobody else on this team. Not one. Now we're up 2-0 in the turnover battle and we'll still lose. Pathetic.
Posted by: Aloysious McGillicudy | December 17, 2006 at 02:38 PM
I just read Lebetard's column and I'm afraid he's hit the nail on the head with one mistake. He stated that the coaches aren't sucessful because most of the players are average at best. Ok so far, however, he fails to mention that the head coach is the one who has either decided to keep these players and has brought in "his" kind of players. Now, mix those up together and we have what we have.
Posted by: blue | December 17, 2006 at 02:42 PM
Damm! That didn't take long. What a total bunch of crap. Can't run, can't pass. Looks like J. Taylor will need to win this one on his own. I see that Losman is 7-10 119 yards and a TD, Harrington 4-10, 16 yards and an interception. For all those out there who argue that Brees wouldn't have this team in a better position today...you're all full of sh!t!
Posted by: blue | December 17, 2006 at 02:45 PM
OK,time to pull Joey. One thing about Joey is that when he plays badly, he stays that way. So, pull Joey and put in Lemon. It's a luxury in a way, because if Saban spots 'bad' Joey early enough, he can be pulled before one of his costly int's.
Posted by: lasarte | December 17, 2006 at 02:46 PM
Blowie is a turd and throws it right to Clements. BOOOO. 16 yards passing? C'mon Joey! JP is picking us apart. We can shut out Brady but get owned by JP? Huh? The Dolphins are making him look like Elway out there. Hey Nick, what happened to 'execution', huh?
Posted by: Papo from Calle Ocho, Miami | December 17, 2006 at 02:51 PM
lasarte...concur. Pull Joey and go with Lemon. 14-0, weather sucks, Joey doesn't self-correct...the second pick is only a couple of downs away. Nick, time to settle up and let others play. See if they got any talent...see if they have any now and not wait until next preseason while our starters play against scrubs and "look good." No more sermons on the podium mount. Tell it like it is!!!
Posted by: blue | December 17, 2006 at 02:53 PM
Good God. Nate Clements' agent should have a special contract that says he can only play the Dolphins. He'll finish his career with 200 interceptions.
Posted by: Aloysious McGillicudy | December 17, 2006 at 02:55 PM
Yup...just what you want after a TD by the opposing team...a one and half minute three and out drive. Of course the play calling was tremendous, just great stuff...Morris up the middle for no gain, two short passes (imcomplete of course) that wouldn't have gained enough yards for a first down anyway. Besides, McMichael drops yet another. Shit...what a waste.
Posted by: blue | December 17, 2006 at 02:57 PM
Hey, if I were a receiver, I'd be so damn shocked that Harrington put a ball on target that I'd drop it, too.
Posted by: Aloysious McGillicudy | December 17, 2006 at 02:59 PM
Next three plays...Morris runs right tackle. Short pass to Chambers left side...incomplete. Short pass to Welker over the middle - picked off!
Posted by: blue | December 17, 2006 at 03:02 PM
Man they need to take some shots down the field. Need to back this d-fense off. My 5 year old nephew can call a better offense then this.
Posted by: NY13phin | December 17, 2006 at 03:03 PM
How many times has this team just flat-out quit after the first quarter during the Nicole Saban Error? I'm sick of it. This is the last game I'm watching this year. I can't take anymore.
Posted by: Aloysious McGillicudy | December 17, 2006 at 03:05 PM
Ok so I messed up on the interception call. Figured I had a 50/50 chance or better it would happen. Looks like Mularkey pulled out all the stops on that drive!
Posted by: blue | December 17, 2006 at 03:06 PM
Hell, just let the QB (whoever it is) call their own damm plays. Turn Mularkey's transmitter off! 4/14...geez, how bad can it get. (Don't answer!) :)
Posted by: blue | December 17, 2006 at 03:09 PM
How much do we pays Chris Chambers?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!this guy has to go this is sad no catches the Dolphins find away to lose when it reallys counts and guess whos beating up on the JAGs!!!!!Tenn
they will be in before we will.
Posted by: Nando | December 17, 2006 at 03:09 PM
Hey!!!!! we finally got a 1st down
Posted by: NY13phin | December 17, 2006 at 03:10 PM
A forced throw into triple coverage on first and ten. The Bills could've had all 11 men at that spot, and he still would've thrown it there. Next time I spot this assclown playing the piano, I'm going to slam the lid on his fingers.
Posted by: Aloysious McGillicudy | December 17, 2006 at 03:16 PM
I'm shutting this game off. this is a nightmare.
Posted by: NY13phin | December 17, 2006 at 03:18 PM
Saban, just take the Bama job.
Posted by: NY13phin | December 17, 2006 at 03:20 PM
And take Mularkey with you!
Posted by: NY13phin | December 17, 2006 at 03:22 PM
Ok, so the second interception came a few plays later than I predicted. Sad. Is there a "Chambers" factor in his contract that says we have to throw the ball his way no matter what? He can't get open, when he does the QB misses, or throws it into double, tripple coverage. What a crock. It's time that Mueller and Saban blow this team up. Cut the fat, can the turds, cut the shit "borderline" wanna be types. Trade J.Taylor so he has a shot at something other than below .500 for the rest of his career. Stock pile a boat load of draft picks, clear as much cap room over the next two years and hopefully by year three or four you can place a quality team on the field. Chalk these first two years as a learning experience. Let the real GM, Mueller make personnel decisions and Saban and his 158 coaches try their best to teach them something. What a cluster FXXK
Posted by: blue | December 17, 2006 at 03:22 PM
Jason Taylor should punch Nick Saban in the mouth and walk off this team.
Posted by: Aloysious McGillicudy | December 17, 2006 at 03:23 PM
Play Lemon already. Joey has 20 yards passing!!!! He's not going to get any better. Nick...Who gives a crap about his "feelings!" He's being paid 3mil...and sucks. Bench him and let Lemon show you what he has or doesn't have. At least you'll know what everyone else seems to know...time to look for a young QB that can be groomed!
Posted by: blue | December 17, 2006 at 03:26 PM
Well Thats a Rap another worthless Season down the Toilet. Well see ya on Dfaft Day when St Nick Takes a Punter in the First Round from Tulane!!!!!!!!!!!!! My God if you buy season tickets for this crap you need to Shot yourself.
Posted by: Nando | December 17, 2006 at 03:27 PM
Well, Nando is right. As Dandy Don used to sing, "The party's over, turn out the lights!" Let's keep our fingers crossed that Uncle Fester reads Saban the riot act and tells him that Mueller, a real good and experienced GM will begin the hunt for next years draft, free agency period. If Nick doesn't like it...it's off to Bama!
Posted by: blue | December 17, 2006 at 03:32 PM
I don't know why I see so many people walking around proud in their Chris Chambers or McMichael jerseys. THEY ARE BELOW AVERAGE. Chambers is terrible. Not even average. There are receivers in the Dade county peewee league that can out-shine him. He doesn't even make an effort to try to break up the int and he doesn't even have a catch? It's because he can't catch! Number 1 receiver? I bet you 5 dollars he will bitch and moan on how he didn't get the ball. He's a consistent joke. How about that for consistency Nick? Nick, tell him to go home and look in the mirror. Also, tell him to give some money back ... because he's been stealing paychecks all year. He doesn't play to win, he plays to make spectacular catches out of bounds when it doesn't count. Bench him for the rest of the year Nick ...

Posted by: Jdt | December 17, 2006 at 03:59 PM
Absolutely the WORST FUCKING GAME I'VE EVER SEEN!!!!
Mrs. Mularkey, give his nuts back please, he's killing me... I've never seen so many 3rd and whatevers with a pass five yards too short.
Mrs. McMichael, tell Randy he is a way over rated and over paid jack ass! I think he dropped everything his way today!
Mrs. Chambers, please tell Chris he's not in college anymore. NFL Dbacks can run, he hasn't been open yet this season.
And Joey, you pathetic fucker... what was your degree in? Hope you can bring the dinero in off that, because you just put on the worst performance in NFL history. That trumps everything you've ever accomplished, not that your resume says shit!
Posted by: Mrs Harrington | December 17, 2006 at 04:05 PM
as a defender of #3 in weeks past, there obvviously is nothing to say about this game other than harrington had as miserable a game as can be had; but fellas, can we maintain a little dignity and lay off the four letter words and variations thereof- next week a chance to knock the hated jets off their perch; time to regroup for the task at hand
Posted by: the shadow knows | December 17, 2006 at 05:25 PM
Eat me Shadow, you don't know shit. In case you and Flipper haven't figured it out yet, eight teams could perish in firey crashes tonight, and the Dolphins, accepting forfeits from here on, would still miss the playoffs!

Now you folks in Miami know why us Bills fans were happy that Mularky left here. His play calling SUCKED when in Buffalo, and was directly responsible for losing game after game.
We were glad he was gone !!!!
Posted by: Steve | December 17, 2006 at 07:55 PM
Lets get this straight. All of you guys who ever thought Harrington was anything - he just plain sucks. He's got more freaking than TDs and I'm talking career. Routinely throws into triple coverage, and had a 0 (yes zero) passer rating. Everybody was raving when he beat the Lions - guys - reality check - that was the freaking Lions. Who as bad as they were - got rid of him. Lets cut the crap, Mueller - and draft QBs again instead of taking other peoples trash.

gmack, are you joking or are you an idiot. Ditka proved he doesn't have anything left after New Orleans. Gee, Gmack is a Genius. Wow! He has solved all the Dolphins problems just like that. The Dolphins should hire him as their GM.
Posted by: John G | December 17, 2006 at 09:02 PM
All you Florida pussies can kiss off! I'm out of here. The Bills are just too good for us to beat.
Posted by: Nick Saban | December 17, 2006 at 09:05 PM
John G, you are the Idiot "Iron Mike Ditka" is tough we need someone that's tough over here to clean up this mess. I say make him the GM and David Shula the HC... Do it now!!!
Posted by: gmack | December 17, 2006 at 09:34 PM
I'm not ready to give up on Saban yet.
I think he is a good coach, and is a major improvement over Dave W. Remember how awful we were in '04? That wasn't an accident and it is going to take time to fix. I'm not happy about the season, but I realised after week seven that the season was over.
However, I do think that he screwed up the QB position here beyond belief. There is no point in rehashing the Culpepper situation, and Harrington's play this year speaks for itself. I don't dislike Joey, but he will never lead an NFL team to the playoffs. There are so many questions that need answering regarding the QB position:
1) Why was Culpepper not properly diagnosed heading into the season?
2) Why did the Dolphins not replace him with Harrington in the preseason/week 1/week 2/week 3 when it was clear to everyone that Daunte was not healthy?
3) Why did we give up a valuable draft pick for Harrington?
etc ...
What is most discouraging about today's game is that we are clearly the 4th best team in the AFC east. Under the Saban era Miami is 1-5 on the road against AFC East opponents (with the only win in a meaningless game to finish last season against NE).
It is the Christmas season though, and I am going to be thankful for JT's awesome year and hope that he gets the recognition that he deserves. Let's give Nick one more year before we start calling for his head.
Merry Christmas Dolphans. Looking forward to next year! AND PLEASE BEAT THE STINKING J-E-T-S.
Posted by: TorturedDolphan | December 17, 2006 at 09:55 PM
hurry up and give up on saban fool! he is a FAKE! Bring back JJ.
Posted by: ggreeze | December 17, 2006 at 10:02 PM
Absolutely play Cleo.
There is nothing to lose here. Worst case scenario we get a better draft pick. Best case scenario we beat the JETS on Christmas day, which I would trade for a number one draft pick!
Posted by: TorturedDolphan | December 17, 2006 at 10:05 PM
Saban stinks. He is just as bad as Wannstedt. He needs to get the hell out of Dodge, before we get the torches and pitchforks.
Posted by: J. J. Spoa | December 17, 2006 at 10:07 PM
We need a real N.F.L. level coach. This college dude is one joke game plan after another. A big change needs to be taking place here soon, or we will never get into the playoffs. Saban just does not know what he is doing out there.
Posted by: Tyrell Jones | December 17, 2006 at 10:14 PM
what an awful showing by such a crappy team. Every member of the team, including the coaches, should return any money that they received this year- except Jason Taylor. Everyone is freaking about Nick's poor decision to take Daunte not Drew Brees, but I disagree- he should have traded for a low draft pick so that we could have landed Vince Young- he's gonna be the best QB in NFL history over the next 15 years- I gaurantee it.....
Posted by: 2Slick | December 17, 2006 at 10:15 PM
When will the management get the point!
Nick Saban has no business running things in Miami. Saban has made some of the worst personnell decisions that I have witnessed in 21 years as a Dolpphins fan. We need a quarterback, we need an offensive line, we need mostimportantly a better coach to lead us to some victories.
Posted by: Tina 'The One' Davidson | December 17, 2006 at 10:18 PM
I for one agree with both 2slick and Spoa. Saban has no clue and we needed Vince Young. Instead we have this Harrington guy, who can not hit the ocean from the beach. Daunte is done for and his career is over. The Dolphins best move is to clean house with Saban and his bunch of college kid coaches and get proven NFL leaders in here.
Posted by: Robert Briggs | December 17, 2006 at 10:24 PM
More outraged Dolphins fans:
It's time Saban gives Lemon a chance so that we all know what we he's capable of. What a disaster of a season...the Dolphins D has to feel let down. And what's up with that playcalling? Frickin retarded! Maybe Capers should take over that too.
Posted by: Mike Masters | December 17, 2006 at 04:08 PM
WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMON, YOU MAKE LEMONADE.
I agree. The season is over lets give him a chance for the last 2 games. And whil your at it please cut WILL ALLEN. I would rather see Olindo Mare or Travis Minor play CB. HOW IS THIS GUY STARTING ???? He gave up 2 TDs today. HE SSSSSSSSSSSSSUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKSSSSSS.
This is how our Secondary looked at the beginning of the year. How can Losman throw so well against the wind and rain. Joey had like what 6 completions 30 yards.
I'm all for LEMON. Cut Will Allen, empty out his locker, throw the contents on Nova Drive and piss on it!!!!!
Posted by: Dolfan Rob | December 17, 2006 at 04:15 PM
Yes, Harrington looked terrible today. Yes, seeing what Lemon can do could be valuable.
However, in all fairness to Harrington, he was set up to fail today. Receivers, McMichael in particular, couldn't catch a cab even with a line of taxis waiting at the airport.
Also, as I'm sure Saban will say, the elements dictated some level of conservatism in the offensive game plan. But in doing so, they handcuffed Harrington. How many times did he have to go medium to long with 2 man routes? By definition, you will throw into coverage. How many times was he allowed to throw on first down (the best down to throw as Phil Simms always says)?
I will go back to offensive philosophy and play-calling as the number one problem on this team.
Posted by: Ted | December 17, 2006 at 04:15 PM
Oh and then deficate in his car
Posted by: Dolfan Rob | December 17, 2006 at 04:17 PM
It was Will Allen...it was Goodman! This might be a good time to actually use our first round pick. DUH!!!
Posted by: Mike Masters | December 17, 2006 at 04:27 PM
Yes, Lemon and other backups should get a chance to see what they can do, but just like Wanny era, Saban will play regulars to try and salvage his W-L record, which is garbage.... The playcalling was garbage, as usual. And, as Ted put it, Saban will go on and on about having to be conservative in the weather, however, it didn't bother Losman who threw two long TD's into the wind. The Fins have been so conservative on offense since Marion left that they are about as exciting as watching paint dry on offense. And how about our supposed playmaker Chambers coming up big again..... Two more drops, lazy routes, and on one of the last few plays had no idea what he was doing, standing around watching Lemon throw a pass.... He and McMichael run their mouth all week about wanting to get the ball and they again dropped more than they caught. Can you name on player on this offense that concerns any defensive coordinator??
This team continues to make horrible personel decisions and terrible draft choices, Jason Allen, Derek "drop another one" Hagan, Shelton for huge money..... And of course, not drafting Brees when they had the chance...
Posted by: Paul | December 17, 2006 at 04:30 PM
True-dat, Harrington threw 4 balls that were outright DROPS but most of them were for like 5 yards or less on 3rd and 8 and it wouldn't have mattered anyway. This offensive system the dolphins use is SUPPOSED TO BE sooooo great and we continue to use it even after its creator moves on to St Louis and we hire a new offensive coordinator who had his own offensive system(and doesn't use it). I don't understand this. Why aren't the dolphins able to complete a pass over 10 yards and even the Raiders can do that! If Daunte isn't the answer, this is going to get ALOT worse before it gets better.
Posted by: Mike Masters | December 17, 2006 at 04:34 PM
Mike, you have to throw a pass for 10 yards before you can complete one. I counted at leat 15 passes that were thrown under 5 yards..... Is this the NFL or pee wee football.... You can't score when you don't make any attempt to score.... And maybe we could get a pass int. call when we drop the pass if it was down the field....
Posted by: Paul | December 17, 2006 at 04:38 PM
When will Marty Booker teach Chambers how to come back to the ball. Last week Joey heaved a ball to Booker in the endzone. It was under thrown. Booker came back to the ball as the safety was closing in: TOUCHDOWN. If that was Chambers it would have been another pick-off. I'm not saying that Joey did not make bad choices and bad throws today, but if Chambers comes back to the ball on that first INT thats a 20 yard gain.
And by the way has anyone noticed how the NFL looks more like the NBA what is with all these phantom Roughing the Passer calls. Last week Roth or maybe Taylor has Brady in the grasp. Their arms wrapped around Brady's waist, his head down. As he is pulling down Brady, he throws away the ball in desperation and falls down. ROGHING the PASSER. Today Losman scrambles, goes down on one knee, pops up and keeps running. Zack holds him for a second. He keep running into the arms of Hill, who also holds him. Not tackles, not throws him down not pile drives him: ROUGHING the PASSER.
Even on a call that benefited the fish last week. Joey is trip over an opposing DE on the ground and falls down after throwing the ball. Again, ROUGHING the PASSER. PLEASE END THIS AND SAVE THE NFL and respect of JT and linemen like him.
Fish suck. The season was over at 1-6. Wake up Joey aint the answer. He is okay with a lead biut I don't think this guy has had a come from behind victory in his life. That is what seperates average QBs from Great Ones. Give Lemon a chance. And as mentioned above: leave will Allen and Goodman in the Locker room in Buffalo

Next weeks big announcement: Nick Saban has accepted an offer to coach the University of Alabama's football team.
Posted by: Flipper | December 17, 2006 at 04:44 PM
I agree w/ Paul.
I am particularly concerned about the last paragraph about the poor personnel choices. In a year in which the 2006 rookie class has made significant contributions league-wide (more so than most years), the Dolphins' rookie class has hardly made a dent.
The free agent class has been equally disappointing. They are now overpaying for a ORG and had very inconsistent contributions from Will Allen, Andre Goodman and two LBs no longer on the team (Hodge and Newman). Yeah, nice going, Nick. I won't even bring up the great QB move you made. Real smart.
Not confidence inspiring when it comes to a Top 15 draft position and some cap space available after another wasted season.

What makes it "fair to say" that Culpepper will "never" go back to his Pro Bowl form? The guy tore 3 knee ligaments and was brought back too early. Why does that make him ruined for the rest of his career? Carson Palmer looks like he may be back in the Pro Bowl one day after he tore his ACL. Brees will be in the Pro Bowl after his shoulder injury. Daunte's injury was more serious than those two guys and needs more recovery time, but that doesn't mean he can't recover like those two did. He may not recover, but why is that "fair to say" today that he won't? We don't know.

It doesn't matter who is at qb the receiving corp, other than Marty Booker, and Welker, or horrible. They are professionals. I coach high school receivers who are able to make difficult catches WITH THEIR HANDS.
The play calling was gutless. The OC seemed afraid to take risks, it the elements. Again professionals, they get paid to play the highest level in such elements.

I am a Buffalo Bills fan and I would just like to thank the Miami Dolphins organization for signing Mike Mularkey as their offensive coordinator. I hope Mike Mularkey is the Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator for years to come because the Bills enjoy playing teams like the Dolphins that don't know what their doing on offense. Mike Mularkey wasn't good enough for us but I guess he is good enough to be your offensive coordinator. Thank you Dolphins and please give Mularkey a contract extension...idiots.

Ted, it's fair to say that Daunte will never regain his form because this is the Internet. You make up a fake name, say all kinds of ridiculous things, and then never back them up when things turn out differently. Also, use lots of exclamation points!!!!! Because then people will believe you !!!!

Chambers and McMichaels are simply pitiful. Not just this game but throughout most of their pro careers. A flashy catch once or twice a season doesn't cut it. Out with them. Use that money for less talent and more results.
Posted by: dimbulb | December 17, 2006 at 06:11 PM
dolphins need to draft troy smith.
Posted by: bryan | December 17, 2006 at 06:21 PM
Why do announcers keep saying chambers is an elite receiver....chambers SUCKS!!!!!! He and that overrated loser mcmichael can leave quickly please...watch other games....receivers make MOST catches (look at ALL of our opponents)..when not making catches they are supposed to break up interceptions.....harrington is very shaky...let Lemon play, he's earned it with his preseason play and he looked composed today (can't say that about joey)....why not go on 4th down nick? Maybe a college job is the best thing for you....I miss being in the playoffs...I miss being respected in the league....I miss receivers you can count on (like Wes and sometimes Marty)....WTF has happened to our once proud franchise.....yucccccccccccccchhh!!
Posted by: Michael Marchese | December 17, 2006 at 06:25 PM
We have nothing to lose. Go for it, I say. Joey's an adaquete backup. That's all he'll ever be. As for McMichael and Chambers: Start packing your bags, Gentlemen. Your inability to separate from DB's, attack the football, and actually catch it when it's thrown to you, have become tiresome and a serious drain on our Cap number. We can do better by ridding our roster of these two oxygen theives!

I'd like to start a movement to get Jason Taylor to the New England Patriots next season - give the guy a chance for a Super Bowl. At least there he'll play with guys his equal in talent.
Posted by: Hunter D | December 17, 2006 at 07:02 PM
What bothers me is that Rodney Harrison had the same injury as Dante and he was running around just fine before his shoulder injury.
Posted by: Gilbert Fanfan | December 17, 2006 at 07:16 PM
Alot of you guys are bashing Chambers and Mcmichael which is the right thing to do but did you guys see some of those offensive play calls by Mularkey today? What the hell was that! I still do not understand why Mularkey is the Dolphins offensive coordinator at this point, I mean the offense has been horrible all season. It is because of the defense that we have six wins this year. Why is it that Dolphin fans and everyone around the NFL see that Mularkey is not capable to run an offense but the Miami Dolphins organization and Nick Saban can't? Is Nick Saban sleeping with Mularkey? If you want to improve the offense for next year, get rid of Mularkey and get anybody else.
Posted by: Stop | December 17, 2006 at 07:49 PM
Let the rest of the NFL consider Chambers an 'elite' receiver, it'll help unload him.
The only positive has been that Morris has proven himself to be a quality RB.
Saban needs to be more pissed off. Had he canned Mularkey after 5 games, told Ricky Williams to get outta town and not comeback, suspend McMichaels for his domestic abuse and still be where he is now, I think fans would have seen him as a coach on the way up who was snakebite by Williams and Linehan and made a bad choice (who he fessed up to) in Mularkey. He out take the WWRD (What Would Riley Do) and make it his mantra.
Posted by: lasarte | December 17, 2006 at 07:51 PM
It's time to send Saban and all of the other coaches packing to Alabama. As for the quarterback problems, if we would have drafted Brees instead of Jamal Fletcher think where we could be by now.
Posted by: hrcjpuck | December 17, 2006 at 08:49 PM
But you know Saban wont go with Lemon. It took him 4 weeks to finally pull the plug on Culpepper and about 6-7 weeks to finally insert Bell in the starting lineup.
There is something to be said about Saban being a bad gameday coach. I think his gameplanning is horrible. To me he's nothing but a mediocre coach that will never have sucess in the NFL.
If he doesn't show me the playoffs next year, the Saban experiment is over. F**K all these retread Qbs. You messed up by not drafting a young stud your first year here and now you pay bytch!
Posted by: Nate | December 17, 2006 at 09:36 PM
I agree with Nate,
Ron brown was never worth a #2 overall pick. Unfortunately no one else looked like they were either in the 2005 draft. We couldn't trade down. Unlike this years crop of Bush, Young and Leinart. But it is very apparent that things would have worked out exactly the same with Morris as the starter

WE were out coached again! I think this was the game that definately proved a few things. Harrington changed teams but he still sucks, mcmichael can't catch. Chambers likes to watch cornerbacks run in front of him and catch the ball. He doesn't come back to the ball or play db when cornerback's going to intercept a pass. Yes, we should definately pickup nate as a free agent and put him at wide reciever, because he catches more passes than our recievers do.
Mularkey is full of himself, armstrong must go too.
Saban.if they don't fire him, should let Mueller do all the personell decisions and keep his away from it because he's worse than Spellman.
They should give Lemon a shot, because Joey is Joey and you know what he can do,"throw interceptions" and he can't win a game by himself only loose one. You might actually see a better quarterback in Lemon. And Saban has a knack for waiting too long to make changes.
Other notes: they talked all week about Jacksonvilles "Tall" recievers, and then couldn't come up with a plan to stop em. They talked about Lee evans, who by the way is much better than Chambers, and they couldn't stop him either.
There recievers didn't seem to "drop the ball",
Losman had what 141 rating? Joey, the big "0"
Booker, the only reciever that can catch, left the game. Man am i pissed, Jason allen can't defend and Hagan can't catch, Other people's 5th & 7th rounders are doing better than our 1st & third and then you count Culpepper as a second & you have a wasted draft. please God don't let Saban make anymore personell decisions.

I would be OK with that, if Saban "The Arrogant One" would have done that with Culpepper. We bet we would be have eight wins right now. B
Posted by: Bamboo | December 17, 2006 at 10:31 PM
Talk about needing to get on with it. Nick Saban should take a hike to the nearest bridge an leap. he cant coach at all.
Posted by: Sally Jensen | December 17, 2006 at 10:50 PM
Will we ever make the playoffs again? I guess not with this coach. Life needs breathing into the fracnhise and saban is not the answer for that. Saban has sucked the life out of the players and they dont care to play hard.
Posted by: Jessica Atrow | December 17, 2006 at 10:52 PM
What is the deal with playing that bad qb when we have limon on the bench. Saban has made thhe worst choices in deciding to not lead us for victories. Kick the field goal today at least we could have scored. I think we need to get a new coach in like Pete Carol. he likes the sun of california, he will like our sun too.

14. Chuck Martin–(38-3) Recently won second consecutive Division II National Championship with Grand Valley State.
13. Jerry Moore–(183-116-2 overall career record; 158-68 at App. St.) Just recently won a second consecutive Division I-AA National Championship. Drawbacks–lack of major college experience and Moore is a little long in the tooth.
14. Chuck Martin–(38-3) Recently won second consecutive Division II National Championship with Grand Valley State. He has won 28 consecutive games and has the winningest quarterback in college football history. Drawbacks–has no experience in major college football and is unprepared for the Alabama fish bowl.
15. Jon Gruden–(81-68 including playoffs) Won a Super Bowl, as for qualifications that is enough said.
2. Chan Gailey–(37-26)redneck who cannot beat his rival Georgia; Bama needs a coach who can beat rivals LSU, Auburn, and Tennessee at least every once in a while.
4. David Cutcliffe–(44-29) poor recruiter, does not excite the fan base or anyone else for that matter. Cannot get exited himself because he may have a heart attack at any minute. A graduate of Alabama but like Weis did not play there and he has too many ties to Fulmer. His Ole Miss teams also did not have a defense that would be needed to compete consistently. Did absolutely nothing without Eli Manning as QB.
7. Jeff Tedford–(42-20) already demonstrated that he was absolutely clueless when it came to playing in the SEC when Tennessee owned his talented Cal team 35-18 in Knoxville.

Posted by: Aldo | December 17, 2006 at 03:53 PM
that was pathetic. that last drive was truly embarassing.

All you Florida pussies can kiss off! I'm out of here. The Bills are just too good for us to beat.

John G, you are the Idiot "Iron Mike Ditka" is tough we need someone that's tough over here to clean up this mess. I say make him the GM and David Shula the HC... Do it now!!!

Posted by: Ted | December 17, 2006 at 04:46 PM
What makes it "fair to say" that Culpepper will "never" go back to his Pro Bowl form? The guy tore 3 knee ligaments and was brought back too early. Why does that make him ruined for the rest of his career? Carson Palmer looks like he may be back in the Pro Bowl one day after he tore his ACL. Brees will be in the Pro Bowl after his shoulder injury. Daunte's injury was more serious than those two guys and needs more recovery time, but that doesn't mean he can't recover like those two did. He may not recover, but why is that "fair to say" today that he won't? We don't know.
Posted by: The Phinatic | December 17, 2006 at 04:49 PM

Posted by: Buffalo Bills Fan | December 17, 2006 at 05:25 PM
Ted, it's fair to say that Daunte will never regain his form because this is the Internet. You make up a fake name, say all kinds of ridiculous things, and then never back them up when things turn out differently. Also, use lots of exclamation points!!!!! Because then people will believe you !!!!
Posted by: Chris Bryant | December 17, 2006 at 06:04 PM
Posted by: Dolfanforever | December 17, 2006 at 06:53 PM
